
Horseback riding and therapeutic riding are the hallmarks of Camp Red Cedar. We offer lessons to accommodate riders of all ability levels. Whether you’ve never been within 10 feet of a horse or you’re an experienced rider looking to sharpen your skills, Camp Red Cedar has the perfect riding program for you. We offer a variety of horseback riding lessons, as well as therapeutic riding. Classes include:Little Cowpokes – First time riders ages 6 and 7 and budding horse lovers learn how to guide and steer the horse and a balanced riding position with a leader guiding the horse until rider is safely able to demonstrate riding skills. Session includes a 30-minute lesson, once a week for eight weeks. Buckaroos – Beginning and intermediate riders ages 8 and older Beginning riders tack up to ride while learning the fundamentals of horsemanship and riding, as well as grooming and tacking. Intermediate riders advance their skills in horsemanship and equitation. Sessions include a 60-minute lesson, once a week for eight weeks. Choose English or Western style riding. Individual private lessons and eight-week riding sessions are also available. |

For some, riding a horse might seem impossible. At Camp Red Cedar, we think anything is possible. Our therapeutic horseback riding program has been successful in helping children and adults with disabilities grow and thrive.
Therapeutic riding has many benefits for individuals with disabilities or injuries. It is a proven therapy for improving physical, developmental and emotional wellbeing. Camp Red Cedar’s certified therapeutic riding instructors, along with a team of volunteer horse leaders and side walkers ensure your safety as you learn new skills on horseback.
Camp Red Cedar is a member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH), the Certified Horsemanship Association and the Indiana Horse Council.
