Meet the Horses

At Camp Red Cedar, our horses are an essential part of our team and do some of the most important work at our 57-acre facility.

BLONDIE
Color:
Palomino
Breed: Quarter Horse
Mare

Blondie has been part of our program since 2017 and became a permanent member of our barn in 2019. She is a great horse for our independent riders and does a good job building confidence with her people. She will do hand-led lessons if asked but she really excels offline. She loves trail rides and is a brave mare who likes challenges.

CALLIE
Color:
Champagne/White
Breed: Belgian/Paint
Mare

Callie has been with Camp Red Cedar since the spring of 2019. She is a big girl with a big heart who loves attention and neck rubs. Being a half-draft horse, she makes a good mount for some of our riders who need a solid base to help keep them balanced. She has a lot of training so she does well with our more independent riders also. She has been a great addition to our herd.

ICE
Color:
Palomino
Breed: Quarter Horse
Gelding

Ice is a cool character, so his name is very fitting. He pretends to be very independent but will also be one of the first ones up to you in the pasture, or will push other horses away to get the attention. He takes most things in stride, no pun intended and is a dependable guy. Likes to be out with his friends or on trail rides. Long walks on the beach… Haha!

JAKE
Color:
Black
Breed: Tennessee Walking Horse
Gelding

Jake has a good spirit and wants to be everyone’s friend. He can be a little lackadaisical but will focus if you ask him to. His nickname is Gumby because he is sooo bendy and really has a long flowing stride. He loves attention but also needs to mind his manners. Lol.

LUCKY
Color:
Black/White
Breed: Gypsy Drum Horse
Gelding

Lucky is the super-cool, giant version of Megan. He always wants attention and will lure you like a siren with that blue eye until you have to go give him scratches. He’s just learning the importance of therapy and lessons and given time and patience will be a great asset to the program at CRC. He already has a fan base.

MEGAN
Color:
Bay/White
Breed: Gypsy Vanner
Mare

Megan is all kindness wrapped up in a chunky little draft body. She loves attention and people but she still has an opinion about things. She gets a lot of comments about her beautiful wavy hair and she knows she’s cute. The pocket pony who will follow you anywhere just to be with you.

MOWGLI
Color:
Bay/Dun
Breed: Morgan/Quarter Horse
Gelding

Mowgli is a kind boy but is also a tough cookie. The Morgan in him makes him very tenacious. He’s one of the leaders in the pasture and is smart enough to test people on occasion, just to make sure you really want him to do it. He excels at therapy and will tote kids around with ease as long as you tell him thank you and let him know how much you appreciate it.

SANDY
Color:
Palomino
Breed: Miniature Horse/Pony
Mare

Sandy is a Clydesdale in a pony body. She has a strong personality and doesn’t take any guff from all those bigger horses, but when she is with her people, she shows the most patience and kindness of anyone. Sweet girl.

SPINNER
Color:
Bay
Breed: Quarter Horse
Gelding

Spinner is one of the most experienced horses at Camp Red Cedar. He’s been there done that including dodging a tube of toothpaste. Don’t ask. Lol. He is best with independent riders and is one of our best Range Rider camp horses. He only needs subtle cues and he’ll just get it done and with a smooth gait to boot.

Grace
Color:
Bay Overo
Breed: American Paint Horse
Mare

Grace came to CRC in 2021. She is a sweet girl and is figuring out the therapy/lesson horse game like a champ. She loves her new friends and really enjoys a good dip in the pond as well. This girl is not afraid of water! LOL. Gracie filled in quickly where needed and we are really glad to have her in the program.

TEDDY
Color:
Grey
Breed: Miniature Horse/Pony
Gelding

Teddy is the biggest character in the barn. Ornery is his middle name, but he does it out of fun and not meanness. He loves people and finds them entertaining. In spite of being a little feisty, he has a very loving side too and will let you dress him up in the craziest costumes, like Buckbeak with feathers all over, and still be a trooper. Anything for attention.
